Product Description

Product Description Peerless' PRGS Precision Gear Projector Mount is changing the way image alignment is done. The patent-pending precision gear design provides exact tilt and roll image positioning with a simple turn of a knob. Once the installer sets the precision gear to the desired position it stays securely in place. It will not shift during projector maintenance, bulb replacement, and will not loosen or change alignment due to vibration, accidental bumping etc. With Peerless' PRGS Precision Gear Projector Mount the installer sets it and forgets it. From the Manufacturer The Peerless Precision Gear Universal Projector Mount (PRG-UNV) features a patent-pending gear design allowing you to tilt, roll, or reposition your image with a simple turn of a knob. It is also easy to install and includes a universal Spider adapter plate that accommodates most projector models up to 50 pounds. Whether you use a projector in your home theater, classroom, or workplace, the PRG-UNV makes mounting easy and provides you with hassle-free image alignment.Precision Gear Universal Projector Mount (PRG-UNV)Patent-pending gear design lets you tilt, roll, and reposition your image without tools.View larger.Universal Spider adapter plate accommodates most projector models.View larger.Innovative Gear Design for Easy Image AlignmentWith other mounts, aligning your projector's image often requires tools and tedious readjustments. This is my second one of these I've installed in two rooms. Solid easy mounting via a standard 1.5" NPT threaded down rod and the fact the projector bracket has a quick release makes it super easy to install and then hang the projector. The mounting spider is quick to adjust and locks down tight.Tip One: Make sure you don't tighten the set screw on the bracket to the down rod until you get the projector up. The mount has adjustments for pitch and roll, but the left/right alignment happens by rotating the projector on the down rod. So waiting to lock down the set screw until you get the projector up will make it a little easier.Tip Two: Don't screw the down rod completely into the bracket, leave a few threads showing. If you screw it in all the way, the rod will hit the roll adjuster and limit the roll adjustment. Leave a few threads showing and you'll have plenty of support without hitting the adjuster.Once the bracket is mounted it takes just a minute to pick up the projector and slide it in then tighten the locking screw. Swing the projector left and right to get it lined up then lock the set screw for the down rod. Use the pitch and toll adjustment knobs to make the final adjustments and you're done in 10 minutes including the time to do keystone, etc with the projector menus.Once aligned, I've not noticed any slipping or creep in the mechanical adjustments and have not had to readjust in a couple of years of having them. Though I will say I'm using Sony projectors that are in the 30 lb range, so heavier projectors may be a different experience.I've also not seen vibrations being passed to the projector from the audio or other, though obviously your specific placement and room will have a lot to do with that.In the middle of 2008, I started work building my home theater. A project planned for years, and finally executed. I had the speakers and receiver picked out and the projector is the fantastic Panasonic AE2000. The last part actually ended up being just as awesome in it's own way to the more expensive and high tech gadgetry. I shopped all over every major store, some minor ones, and found this baby on Amazon. It was "reasonable" which was kind of one of my founding principles for budgeting... I'd call it High Medium End gear. The pictures don't do it justice... and I STRONGLY recommend reviewing the video on the manufacturers website.First off, I had a lot of requirements for this. The one area I didn't want to skimp on was the support for a $2500 projector, but I have a rather low basement ceiling and needed something both sturdy and shallow. It's hard to tell based on the information on the site... they really should give more details. I guess this one looked close to the best if maybe a bit more expensive than some I had seen. I found out, that based on the value of this item, the cost was WELL worth it.It's rock solid steel, the arms are very adjustable, the tooling is quality, and it's adjustability is fantastic. I wasn't even aware of how easy this would be to adjust, and really that should be an aspect of your mounting solution. This has hide-away knobs that fit into the base, but pull out so you can fine tune the system without needing a long driver. You should also consider having enough room between the projector and ceiling to fit your hand in to release or adjust. The sliding mount is very solid and you don't feel for an instant it's going to give out on you. Everything is gear driven, and can be locked down tight to prevent wiggle. The only complaint, and it's a fairly minor one, is that the screws used on the arms to adjust the vertical feet began to strip due to the force necessary to tighten them. I wish they had been deeper welled or had slightly bigger heads. I eventually had to use a spare screw from the bag (meant for another part) on one particular foot which required more than two adjustments to get things right, causing the head to strip. Even so, not much of a nuissance, and maybe the company will consider hardened steel screws or something in their future packaging if they read this.I can't recommend this enough, a very pleasant surprise that this was SO much better than anything I saw in the store unless you spent 2-3 times as much, and even then, I doubt you'd find one much better.Oh, and it's fully capable of using an extension pipe if you need more depth and it comes with a steel security strap lock for projectors in public spaces. I shopped a long time before deciding. If you're just starting or have been looking for the right one... don't hesitate, just get this one and know that it's a GREAT bang for the buck.Wow.I have an Optoma HD20. It's a fairly difficult projector to mount due to the placement of the mounting screws all very close together. Right off the top it eliminates many different mounts. And for the mounts that potentially will work, there is a lot of creativity needed to get the base to attach properly.I had previously bought a highly recommended and very inexpensive mount from Monoprice. It was $20 or so and did the job fairly well. Unfortunately, I would need to adjust the projector every time I used it (it would drift to one side). Also, the release to take the projector down never worked properly. Once it was up it stayed up. Minor annoyances aside, I was willing to put up with things because it was so cheap. One day I was forced to the projector down and the only way to do that was to remove the mount from the ceiling. Never again. It was a complete and total hassle.I then bought the recommended mount from Amazon (it's listed as their best seller) for about $35. Mine was a piece of junk. The machining for the screw holes was so poor that you couldn't tighten down the controls to manage the roll. That one went back. I really didn't want to spend a ton of money but I was getting sick of wasting hours and drilling holes into my ceiling. I finally broke down and bought this Peerless. This thing is the bomb. I still had to get a little creative on mounting the plate to the projector. That took about 15 minutes. The ceiling plate went up in no time and the projector slid right into place. Fine tuning took all of 2 or 3 minutes. Total effort was well under 30 minutes and it was a one person job (as opposed to hours and needing 2 people). Everything was well labeled and intuitive. 24 hours later and the projector shows no sign of drift. It is locked in place.Removing and remounting the projector is done in under 60 seconds. This makes my projector much more portable now for outdoor shows. I really can't say enough about this mount. Other than price (and yes, $100 is a lot to spend on a mount) it is absolutely perfect. Love, love, love this mount.Bought this to ceiling mount my JVC X500 projector.I was a little worried about whether the bracket would fit my projector and whether the two screws would be enough to hold the whole thing up - it's a weighty enough projector at around 24Kg.The bracket did indeed fit - just about, the arms were at the end of their extension. The provided M5 bolts are too short for the JVC, you'll need to purchase 12-16mm long ones separately. The screws also hold things up just fine.As others have said, there's very fine control over pitch and roll which is great but the rotation is fixed once you screw in the ceiling and I needed to 'persuade' the bracket on the ceiling to finely align the projector to the screen (projector must be square on to screen to eliminate the need for digital correction and this is not easy with this bracket.)Otherwise, a great buy and I would buy again. If you are looking for a projector mount. This is one of the best around. Needed this to ceiling mount my jvc projector which is quite heavy. To adjust the mount you use a screw driver to tite the projector forward. And left and right.Recently bought one of these to install a projector in a home cinema. It is a well made and solid piece of kit that is reasonably priced. It can handle a pretty heavy weight so no concerns there. Some other mounts ouly go up to 10 kg. It has a fairly shallow drop which is good if you don't want the projector to hang down too far. One of the main reasons I bought this was the flexiblity for the universal mounting plate, which worked perfectly with my Panasonic PT-AT5000E projector, which has apparently randomly spaced mounting holes. The ease of adjustment of pitch and roll is great, but you do need to get the rotation square on before you tighten the screws fixing to the ceiling.I bought this after doing a lot of research and think it is brilliant. Very well made, easy to fit with good instuctions. I used it to ceiling mount my new Panasonic PT-AT5000E projector and it worked perfectly and felt very robust, which is what you want when mounting an expensive bit of kit above your head!Bought this for my new Panasonic 6000 projector. It was very simple to assemble and fit. The product is manufactured to high quality levels. The product includes 4 mount arms - most pictures only show 3. Its expensive, but worth the money in my opinion.
